Guest Services Cashier


Gift Shop attendants work with the guests in a friendly and personable manner on a day-to-day basis. The Gift Shop attendant will also run the concessions, and cash register for ticket and gift sales.

Position Requirements:

Must be 16 years or older
No visible tattoos or piercings
Must have a desire to serve the public and be able to deal positively and effectively with the public.
Must have good communication skills and actions.
Must be a positive role model in behavior and actions.
Must work weekends, holidays, and any school breaks.
Be able to reach, stoop, and stand for long periods of time.
Be able to lift 50lbs or more.

We will provide some on-the-job training for particulars as needed, but applicants are expected to have experience in the above listed duties.

Full Time | Seasonal Zoo Keepers


Virginia Safari Park, a 180-acre drive through zoo and breeding center, is expanding and searching for additional keepers. We maintain an inventory of 1000+ specimens comprised of large groups of hoofed stock as well as a “Safari Village” comprised of primates, large cats, a walk-through aviary, reptiles, and domestic petting area. We currently have full time openings in our safari area and a full time and seasonal openings in our village area. These positions require a person with excellent observational skills and a strong work ethic. All keepers will be responsible for the daily care of the animals. Full time keepers are required to maintain their animal records as well as assist in breeding programs.

Position Requirements:

BS in an animal science, biology, or science related field is preferred
Experience may be substituted for a degree
For the safari: domestic hoof stock experience is acceptable
Minimum of 6 months paid animal care experience
Strong work ethic, good physical conditions and a willingness to learn
Must be able to adhere to our strict personal appearance requirements
Maintain a non-smoking work environment
Have the ability to work in all weather conditions
Experience in using or willing to learn to use trucks, tractors, and other types of equipment
Valid Drivers license 
Weekend and holiday work are required
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs

Wagon Driver


The wagon driver drives a tractor pulled wagon throughout the drive thru park while presenting an informative narration on the Zoo's features. This position has the responsibility of conducting up to 3 to 4 tours daily in a safe, orderly and expedient manner while educating the public and maintaining the Zoo's image of goodwill.

Position Requirements:

Preference to those 21 years of age or older
No visible tattoos or piercings
Must have valid driver’s license
Copy of driving record required if hired
Enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing, and great with the public
Public speaking experience preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Peak tours:  weekends, holidays, and other school breaks during the hours of operation
The park operates tours daily from mid-March thru Thanksgiving weekend
Must be able to lift 50lbs or more

Essential Job Functions:

Operates tours on a tractor pulled wagon, tractors are easy to learn to drive.
Presents educational and entertaining narrative simultaneously while driving a tour vehicle on our built in P.A. systems
Presents a positive, friendly, and outgoing image
Conducts tours in an organized, safe and timely manner
Interacts with tour patrons continuously
Arrives early to set up and fill feed buckets for tours, Loads and unloads tour vehicles
Educates the public and maintains the organization’s image of goodwill
Conducts tours on designated roads throughout the drive thru
Conducts special tours as required, these may be after regular park hours
Distinguishes animals in their natural habitat, makes the tours fun and adventuresome 
Answers questions regarding animals and main features of the Drive thru and walk thru areas
Observes and reports unusual conditions in the park or animal behavior to animal staff

Various Positions

Position Requirements:


Degree, or advanced training, in horticulture preferred. Will be responsible for the overall appearance, planting, and care of all plants. Will include mulching, some mowing as needed, etc. May be full-time or part-time.

Maintenance Department: Construction, Carpentry

Construction: Must be familiar with common building practices and regulations. Must be able to work unsupervised, and identify issues as they arise.  Will work with existing crew members.

Mechanical/automotive: Be able to maintain fleet of vehicles and equipment, including basic maintenance of tractors, mowers, etc.  Must be familiar with operation and general maintenance of standard farm machinery.

Weekend Parking Attendants

Seasonal, part-time work assisting guests with parking.  Must be energetic, friendly, and great with the public.


Maintains park grounds. Cleans walkways, railings, etc. Picks up and empties trash, insures grounds are continually monitored.


General custodial duties as needed throughout the park to maintain a clean facility for our guests.


Essential Skills for these positions:

• General construction skills/carpentry skills/metal siding & roofing. 
• Plumbing/electrical/concrete work.
• General maintenance of farm vehicles, pickup trucks.
• Operation of farm vehicles/skid steer/backhoe/bulldozer
• Property fence maintenance.
• Lawn maintenance, including operation of zero-turn mowers, weed-eaters, and other equipment.
• Wagon drivers must be 18 yrs. of age, clean driving record, and willing to lead narrative educational tours to the public.
• Includes weekend work.
