The Virginia Safari Park is excited to announce the 2012 Safari Shots Photo Contest!
If you are like most people who visit the park, you bring a camera. With over 1,000 animals, the Virginia Safari Park's diverse wildlife and natural landscape presents the perfect backdrop for shutterbugs of all ages and experience levels. So grab your camera and take your best Safari Shot!
Entrant category winners will receive a prize package valued at $140!
• Two (2) Adult Season Passes; and
• Two (2) Child Season Passes.
Contest winners, runner ups, and honorable mentions will have their photographs posted on the Safari Shots webpage for all to see and enjoy.
In addition, Virginia Safari Park will send a press release with the winner's name and
a copy of their photograph to their local newspapers for possible publication.
Photographs submitted as part of the contest will be considered for inclusion in
various Virginia Safari Park marketing projects, such as brochures, print and online advertisements, e-newsletters, and our website.
The Safari Shots Photo Contest is open to photographers of all ages and experience levels. Each entry will be ranked overall in its entrant category based on the following criteria: composition and nature of the subject matter; clarity of the shot; and suitibility for use in marketing materials.
Adult Amateur
Entrants who are 13 years old and older who do not receive monetary
reimbursement for their photographs or photography service.
Adult Professional
Entrants who are 13 years old and older who receive monetary reimbursement
for their photographs or photography service.
Youth
Entrants who are 12 years old and younger.
• Contest begins Wednesday, June 1, 2012. Photos can be from any time period, as long as they were taken within the zoo.
• Deadline for photo and release form submission is Sunday, July 16, 2012.
• Winners will be notified via email and announced Monday August 6, 2012.
- Winner selections are final and binding.
• Prize packages will be awarded the week of August 6, 2012.
- Return of any prize notification or prize as undeliverable will result in the
prize being forfeited and an alternate winner selected.
Safari Shots Photo Contest Rules:
• Individuals must observe posted Virginia Safari Park rules while on property
taking photographs. Rules are printed in the complimentary Guidebook
distributed to every vehicle that enters the park, as well as on signs posted
throughtout park.
• Images must be taken on Virginia Safari Park property and must be of
Virginia Safari Park animals.
• Photos of people interacting with/feeding the animals in both the Safari
Drive-Thru and the Village Walk-Thru are highly desirable.
• By submitting the photo Release Form, entrants grant permission to use photos
in Virginia Safari Park marketing projects.
• A maximum of 5 photographs are allowed per entrant.
• Submissions that do not meet contest rules and guidelines may not be
considered for judging or prize package awards.
General Terms
By submitting photos, entrants agree to:
• Release the Virginia Safari Park and its agents from all liability, injuries, loss
and/or damage of any kind arising from their participation in the contest and the
acceptance, possession and use/misuse of any prize;
• Agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges; and
• Give his or her express permission to be contacted by Virginia Safari Park by
email, mail or phone.
By submitting a photo, entrant consents to the use of his/her name, photograph, likeness and entry photograph for advertising, promotional and educational purposes in all media without additional compensation.
