Virginia Safari Park Races to Save Vulnerable Cheetahs

There is no shortage in animal diversity when guests visit the Virginia Safari Park; some of the most iconic species in the animal kingdom can be found there, including Giraffe, Rhinos, Penguins, and Africa's rarest cat - the King Cheetah.

The Virginia Safari Park is the only place in the entire country that visitors can see a King Cheetah in person! The new resident named "Mona Lisa" is the Queen of King Cheetahs. Originally thought to be a separate subspecies, the King Cheetah is an African Cheetah that features rare recessive genes. This color variation is naturally occurring and creates a unique pattern; the coat features thick blotchy patterns instead of the defined spots.
